Rawalpindi – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi at the General Headquarters (GHQ), where both sides discussed the evolving geostrategic landscape, bilateral security concerns, and regional stability.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two dignitaries focused on strengthening border security cooperation through the Pak-Iran border mechanism and emphasized the importance of continued dialogue to overcome mutual challenges.

General Munir reiterated that Pakistan and Iran enjoy fraternal ties rooted in shared history, culture, and religion. He stressed the need for collective efforts to promote sustainable peace in the region.

Foreign Minister Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic and security initiatives for regional stability and expressed Iran’s willingness to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Minister also met with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Both leaders highlighted India’s recent aggressive posture as a threat to regional peace and called for collaborative efforts to counter such developments.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed heartfelt condolences over the tragic blast in Bandar Abbas, extending sympathies to the Iranian people and leadership, and reaffirming Pakistan’s strong commitment to its brotherly relations with Iran.
