A week long anti polio campaign has formally begun in Lahore. The campaign was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Lahore Captain (R) Muhammad Ali Ijaz, who administered polio drops to children at Mian Mir THQ Hospital.
During the ceremony, CEO Health Dr. Asif Arbab Khan Niazi welcomed the Deputy Commissioner Lahore, while the DC also offered a special prayer for the success of the campaign.
According to the district administration, the anti polio campaign has started today in all 274 union councils of Lahore. During the campaign, the target has been set to administer polio drops to more than 2.2 million children.
The administration said that more than 14,000 mobile teams will go door to door to provide polio vaccines to children, while foolproof security arrangements have also been finalized.
According to the Deputy Commissioner Lahore, polio is an incurable disease and preventive drops are the only effective means of protection against it. He said that the anti polio campaign will be made successful at all costs to ensure a safe future for children.
