More than 33,000 students from across Pakistan participated in the country’s first nationwide IT skills examination, marking a major step toward promoting digital literacy and technology-based education among young people.

The large-scale assessment was conducted under a national initiative aimed at evaluating students’ practical technology skills and encouraging greater participation in the digital economy. Officials described the exam as an important milestone in Pakistan’s efforts to modernize education and prepare youth for emerging global job markets.

According to organizers, students from schools, colleges, universities, and technical institutions across multiple provinces took part in the examination. The test reportedly focused on key digital competencies including computer literacy, coding fundamentals, problem-solving, cybersecurity awareness, and other modern IT-related skills considered essential in today’s technology-driven world.

Education and technology officials stated that the initiative was launched to identify talent, encourage innovation, and highlight the growing importance of digital education in Pakistan. Authorities believe such programs can help bridge the technology skills gap and create better employment opportunities for young Pakistanis in both local and international markets.

Experts say the strong participation reflects increasing interest among students in information technology, freelancing, software development, and digital entrepreneurship. Pakistan’s IT sector has expanded rapidly in recent years, with growing demand for skilled professionals in areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, web development, and data science.

Officials involved in the initiative also emphasized that technology education is becoming increasingly important for economic growth, particularly as countries worldwide invest heavily in digital transformation and remote work opportunities. They added that nationwide skill assessments can help educational institutions better understand student capabilities and improve future training programs.

Students who appeared in the examination described the experience as competitive and motivating, with many expressing hope that similar initiatives would continue in the future. Social media users also praised the program, calling it a positive step toward empowering Pakistan’s youth through modern education and technical skills development.

The initiative comes amid broader government and private-sector efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s digital ecosystem, increase IT exports, and position the country as a growing hub for technology talent in the region.
