Ankara: In a heartfelt declaration of solidarity, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reaffirmed Turkey’s unwavering support for Pakistan in both good times and bad.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting, President Erdogan expressed satisfaction over the recent ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India. He highlighted Turkey’s diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions following the Phalgam incident, which had severely strained relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
“Tensions had escalated to a dangerous level, threatening peace in the entire region,” Erdogan told his cabinet members. He further revealed that he had a productive phone call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which both leaders discussed regional stability and the way forward.
President Erdogan praised Pakistan’s restraint and wisdom during the recent escalation and extended his congratulations to the Pakistani nation for their maturity and calm approach.
He advised both countries to avoid provocation and focus on dialogue. He also emphasized that the current atmosphere of peace, established through the ceasefire, could pave the way for resolving longstanding issues — particularly water disputes.
Reaffirming his country’s friendship, President Erdogan said, “Turkey will, God willing, always stand by its brotherly nation Pakistan in times of need.”
