At least 20 people were injured after a powerful storm struck Bannu district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing widespread damage to homes, buildings, and infrastructure.
According to initial reports, strong winds accompanied by heavy rain hit several areas of the district, tearing off rooftops, collapsing weak structures, and uprooting trees. The sudden storm created panic among residents as many rushed to safer locations.
Local authorities and rescue teams quickly reached the affected areas and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals, where some are reported to be in critical condition. Emergency services have been engaged in clearing blocked roads and assessing the extent of the damage.
The storm also disrupted power supply in several localities due to fallen electric poles and damaged transmission lines. Communication in some areas remained affected for several hours.
Officials said relief efforts are underway, and damage assessment teams have been deployed to evaluate losses to property and infrastructure. Authorities have also advised residents to remain cautious as unstable weather conditions may continue in the region.
