The federal government has accelerated efforts to prevent the spread of HIV in the country. A high level meeting chaired by Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal reviewed ongoing efforts related to the prevention, monitoring and control of the disease.

‎The meeting was attended by the Federal Secretary for Health, Additional Secretary for Health, senior officials from DRAP, the Health Services Academy and other relevant institutions, along with key stakeholders.

‎Participants were briefed on the HIV situation in the country and the measures being taken to address it. The recommendations of the HIV Task Force established by the Prime Minister were also reviewed in detail.

‎The Health Minister assigned clear responsibilities to the relevant institutions and said that complete coordination among all agencies and immediate practical measures are essential for the effective control of HIV. He directed that the recommendations of the task force be implemented effectively to help prevent the spread of the disease.

‎Mustafa Kamal stated that the National Institute of Health, CDC and CMU have activated a modern HIV dashboard through which data received from across the country can be reported and monitored in a timely manner.

‎He said that the system will not only improve disease surveillance but will also significantly enhance policymaking and decision making. The Health Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuing all possible efforts to curb the spread of HIV and provide better healthcare services to the public.
