Quetta: Petrol prices have soared to as high as Rs500 per litre in parts of Balochistan as a worsening fuel shortage continues to disrupt supplies across the province. The crisis has led to long queues at filling stations and forced several fuel pumps to temporarily shut down.

According to local reports, the shortage has been particularly severe in districts including Nushki, Kharan, and Loralai, where petrol prices have reportedly reached the Rs500-per-litre mark due to limited availability.

Officials say the suspension of fuel supplies from across the border and increased demand at local filling stations have contributed to the crisis. Authorities have stepped up efforts to restore normal supplies, with hundreds of thousands of litres of petrol dispatched to affected areas.

President of the Petroleum Dealers Association, Qaimuddin Agha, expressed optimism that the situation would improve within the next few days as additional fuel shipments arrive in the province.

The development comes ahead of the federal government’s scheduled fuel price review. Market observers expect Islamabad to announce revised petroleum prices, with some analysts predicting a possible reduction in official fuel rates if global oil prices remain stable.

The fuel shortage has sparked concern among residents and businesses, who fear further disruptions if supply chains are not restored quickly. Transport operators and traders have also warned that prolonged shortages could affect the movement of goods and push up prices of essential commodities across the province.
