DOHA: Pakistan and Qatar have agreed to strengthen cooperation in internal security and expand coordination between their respective interior ministries amid continuing regional tensions. The understanding was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, in Doha on Tuesday, according to Pakistan’s Interior Ministry.
The discussions covered ways to expand collaboration in security-related fields, alongside an exchange of views on regional developments and efforts to maintain peace and stability. Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to closer institutional cooperation and agreed to further develop the security partnership between the two countries.
Naqvi said Pakistan and Qatar were working together to promote regional peace and stability, while Sheikh Khalifa emphasised the importance Qatar attaches to its relations with Pakistan.
The meeting took place as Naqvi participated in the Global Security Forum 2026 in Doha, where regional security and diplomatic efforts were also under discussion. No specific new security agreement, operational measures or implementation timeline was announced in the statement.
