Iran’s top diplomat, Abbas Araghchi, held high-level talks with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, in Beijing, as both countries discussed bilateral ties and pressing regional issues.

The meeting came during Araghchi’s official visit to China, where discussions focused on strengthening cooperation as well as reviewing ongoing developments in the Middle East. China remains a key economic partner for Iran, particularly as a major buyer of Iranian oil despite international sanctions.

Talks also took place against the backdrop of rising tensions linked to the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy route. Chinese officials emphasized the need for restraint, respect for sovereignty, and continued diplomatic efforts to maintain a ceasefire and ensure stability in the region.

The visit is seen as part of Iran’s broader diplomatic outreach to key global partners amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainty. Analysts note that China’s involvement could play an important role in easing tensions and encouraging dialogue, especially as global powers push for de-escalation and secure energy flows.

The timing of the talks is also significant, coming shortly before planned high-level engagements between Chinese leadership and international counterparts, highlighting Beijing’s growing role as a mediator in global conflicts.
