Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has stressed the need for immediate and collective climate action, warning that environmental degradation and climate change pose serious risks to public health, economic stability, and national security.
Speaking at a climate-focused event, the naval chief highlighted the growing impact of rising temperatures, extreme weather events, water scarcity, and pollution on communities across Pakistan and around the world. He noted that climate-related challenges are increasingly affecting human health through the spread of diseases, heat-related illnesses, and food insecurity.
Admiral Ashraf emphasized the importance of sustainable development, environmental protection, and stronger cooperation among governments, institutions, and communities to address climate threats. He also reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to supporting environmental conservation initiatives and promoting awareness about climate resilience.
The naval chief urged stakeholders to adopt practical measures for reducing carbon emissions, protecting natural resources, and strengthening preparedness against climate-related disasters to ensure a healthier and more sustainable future.
