Health authorities in Bahawalpur are investigating another suspected case of mpox after a patient displaying symptoms consistent with the viral disease was identified and sent for laboratory testing. Officials said samples have been collected, and confirmation is awaited from specialized laboratories.
The development comes days after a senior nurse at Bahawal Victoria Hospital tested positive for mpox and was placed in home isolation. Hospital officials reported that her condition was stable and improving under medical supervision.
In response to the suspected case, health authorities have intensified surveillance and precautionary measures to prevent further spread. Contact tracing and monitoring of individuals who may have been exposed are also underway.
Mpox is a viral disease that can spread through close physical contact with an infected person, contaminated materials, or infected animals. Common symptoms include fever, swollen lymph nodes, body aches, and a characteristic skin rash.
