Nursing representatives across Pakistan have strongly rejected recent remarks attributed to Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal regarding the Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC), warning that any attempt to undermine the profession will face resistance.
According to nursing associations, the comments have caused concern within the healthcare community, as they believe such statements may damage the dignity and credibility of nursing professionals who play a critical role in the country’s healthcare system. They stressed that nurses are already working under challenging conditions and require institutional support rather than criticism.
Professional bodies have urged the government to engage with stakeholders in the health sector to address concerns through dialogue. They emphasized that strengthening nursing education, improving working conditions, and ensuring regulatory respect for PNMC are essential for maintaining healthcare standards in Pakistan.
