Islamabad: The Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme has achieved a significant milestone in 2025, with female students accounting for 54% of the total beneficiaries, reflecting growing gender inclusion in higher education and digital access across Pakistan.

According to official figures, the scheme has witnessed strong participation from women enrolled in universities and degree-awarding institutions nationwide. Education authorities described the development as a positive indicator of increasing female enrollment in higher education and greater engagement in technology-driven learning.

Officials stated that the laptop distribution initiative aims to empower students by providing access to digital resources, online learning platforms, research tools, and academic opportunities. The higher share of female recipients highlights the government’s efforts to promote equal educational opportunities and support women pursuing academic and professional careers.

The program is part of broader initiatives designed to enhance digital literacy, improve access to modern educational technologies, and bridge the digital divide among students. Authorities noted that laptops play a crucial role in helping students conduct research, attend virtual classes, develop technical skills, and compete in an increasingly digital economy.

Education experts have welcomed the trend, saying that greater female participation in such programs can contribute to improved academic outcomes, workforce readiness, and long-term socio-economic development.
