The Punjab Government has announced three major pieces of good news for the public as progress continues on key healthcare projects across the province.
According to sources, various projects and service delivery matters were reviewed during a meeting on specialized healthcare chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The meeting was informed that the construction work of the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology has been completed, and approval has been granted for its possible inauguration on July 15.
Similarly, Package A and Package B of the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research are expected to be completed by July 31, with indications that the inauguration may also take place on the same date.
The meeting was also informed that the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology is likely to be inaugurated on August 15, while directions were issued to complete the recruitment process at the institution by July 10.
During the briefing, the Chief Minister was informed that 22 million patients had been provided free treatment facilities in Punjab, while 13,550 free surgeries had been completed under the Children’s Heart Surgery Program.
Sources further stated that 728,000 patients across the province had also been provided free medicines at their doorsteps.
The meeting also decided to offer better compensation and special packages for expert doctors and nurses arriving from abroad. It was agreed to provide facilities to specialist medical staff under the Diaspora Doctor Locum Program.
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz appreciated the performance of the Specialized Healthcare team and the Infrastructure Development Authority Punjab (IDAP) and praised the construction quality of the Cardiology Institute being established in Sargodha.
