Karachi: Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology organized a workshop on Climate Data Analytics for students enrolled in its Master’s Degree Program in Climate Change and Environmental Informatics, a programme developed under the European Union Center of Excellence for Climate Change ICT – Climate ACTIVE Project.
The workshop was conducted by Dr. Muhammad Nadeem, who introduced students to modern climate data analytics tools and techniques. During the session, participants learned how to process climate-related datasets using statistical methods and machine learning, enabling them to analyze environmental data and develop technology-driven solutions to climate and environmental challenges through modern programming.
Dr. Muhammad Nadeem, who holds a PhD in Informatics from Malaysia, currently serves as the Head of Information Technology in the Department of Computer Science. He shared practical insights into data-driven approaches for addressing climate-related issues and emphasized the growing role of artificial intelligence and analytics in environmental research.
The workshop was organized by Dr. Waleej Haider, course instructor for the master’s programme, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aamir, Dean of the Faculty.
Students appreciated the initiative, stating that the university is actively working to strengthen their technical and research skills through practical learning opportunities, and described the workshop as a valuable step toward enhancing their professional capabilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aamir commended the efforts of Dr. Waleej Haider and Dr. Muhammad Nadeem for successfully organizing the workshop. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to continuing similar academic and practical initiatives aimed at equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to address emerging environmental and climate challenges.
