Cupertino: Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max could receive its largest battery upgrade in years, according to new leaks that suggest the flagship device will feature a significantly bigger battery than its predecessor, potentially delivering much longer battery life.
According to recent reports, the eSIM-only version of the iPhone 18 Pro Max could pack a 5,425mAh battery, while versions with a physical SIM tray may feature a 5,235mAh battery. If accurate, the upgrade would represent a notable increase over the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which shipped with batteries around the 5,088mAh (eSIM) and 4,823mAh (physical SIM) range.
The larger battery is expected to work alongside Apple’s rumored 2nm A20 Pro chip, which is anticipated to improve power efficiency. Combined, the hardware upgrades could offer users longer screen-on time, improved gaming performance, and extended video playback without increasing charging frequency.
Leaks also suggest the iPhone 18 Pro Max may feature a slightly thicker design to accommodate the larger battery. Other rumored upgrades include a variable aperture camera, a smaller Dynamic Island, improved cooling, and enhanced AI capabilities powered by Apple’s next-generation chipset.
Despite the excitement, Apple has not officially confirmed any specifications. Industry analysts note that these details are based on supply-chain leaks and certification reports, meaning the final specifications could change before the expected launch later this year.
