KARACHI: The Sindh provincial cabinet has officially approved a 7.5% increase in the minimum monthly wage for workers across the province, elevating the baseline rate for unskilled laborers from Rs40,000 to Rs43,000.

The decision was finalized during a cabinet meeting chaired by the Sindh Chief Minister, according to an official statement from the spokesperson. The revised rates are set to take effect retroactively from July 1, 2026.

Under the updated wage framework, corresponding upward adjustments will also be implemented for semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled workers. The new rates apply universally to all notified industrial and commercial establishments throughout Sindh, with the government emphasizing that the policy is designed to reinforce the minimum wage framework and enhance financial security for the working class.

Highlighting the administration’s priorities, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to worker welfare and economic protection, noting that multiple legislative and administrative reforms are currently underway to safeguard laborers’ rights. During the same session, the provincial cabinet also greenlit several auxiliary measures addressing health, judicial administration, and worker welfare.
