The third national anti-polio campaign of the year is set to officially begin tomorrow. The campaign was inaugurated by the Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication, Ayesha Raza Farooq, who administered polio drops to children.
According to the National Emergency Operations Center (EOC), the campaign will run from May 26 to June 1, during which the target is to vaccinate over 45 million children against polio. The main objective of the campaign is the complete eradication of the poliovirus from Pakistan.
The polio campaign is being conducted simultaneously in both Pakistan and Afghanistan, with special focus on border areas and nomadic populations.
Ayesha Raza Farooq emphasized that polio eradication is a national priority and a collective responsibility. She stated that the continuity of the campaign is crucial for strengthening immunity and preventing the spread of the virus. Parents are urged to ensure their children receive polio drops along with an additional dose of Vitamin A.
