MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan has suffered a serious knee injury while filming an intense action sequence for director Kabir Khan’s upcoming sports drama. The actor was taken to Fortis Raheja Hospital in Mahim, Mumbai, where he subsequently underwent knee surgery.
The injury occurred during the final stage of filming, reportedly while Aaryan was performing physically demanding action scenes. The production was already close to completion, with major action sequences being filmed during the final days of the shoot.
Injury Occurred During Action Sequence
According to reports, Aaryan was shooting in Mumbai when he sustained the knee injury. The actor had undergone extensive physical training and worked with action coaches in preparation for the demanding sequences in the film.
Following the accident, he was rushed to Fortis Raheja Hospital in Mahim for treatment. Initial reports said he was expected to undergo surgery within a day, while subsequent reports confirmed that the procedure had taken place.
The exact nature of the knee injury has not been publicly disclosed by Aaryan or his team.
Film Was Nearing Completion
The injury happened at an unfortunate point in production, as Kabir Khan’s untitled sports drama was reportedly in its final stretch of filming.
The movie is being shot across Mumbai and Kashmir and features Aaryan as a kickboxing coach who trains a young girl from Kashmir. The story is inspired by real-life athlete Tajamul Islam.
The project is particularly significant for Aaryan because it also marks his debut as a film producer. His production banner, Dopamine Studios, is co-producing the project with Kabir Khan Films.
Short Break Expected for Recovery
Following surgery, Aaryan is expected to take some time away from filming to recover. Reports indicate that the actor plans to resume his professional commitments after a short recovery period, although the exact timeline will depend on his condition.
His injury could temporarily affect his upcoming shooting schedules, including his work on director Anurag Basu’s romantic musical, in which he stars alongside Sreeleela.
Comes After a Major Career Milestone
The injury comes shortly after an important achievement in Aaryan’s career. He was named Best Actor at the 72nd National Film Awards for his performance as Paralympic gold medallist Murlikant Petkar in Chandu Champion.
Aaryan shared the Best Actor honour with Malayalam superstar Mammootty. The award marked a major recognition for the actor, particularly for a physically demanding role that required extensive preparation and transformation.
Several Projects in the Pipeline
Despite the temporary setback, Aaryan has several projects lined up. Alongside Kabir Khan’s sports drama and Anurag Basu’s romantic musical, he is also associated with projects including Naagzilla and Captain India.
For now, the actor’s priority is expected to be recovery following the knee surgery before returning to his demanding filming schedule.
Aaryan’s team has not publicly released detailed information about the exact injury or his recovery timeline, so further updates are expected as he continues treatment and rehabilitation.
