The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has announced that all intermediate examinations scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, will be postponed due to the observance of Youm-e-Takbeer, a public holiday declared by the Sindh government.
According to BIEK Chairman Ghulam Hussain Soho, the affected exams, including Science Pre-Medical and Science General group papers, will now be conducted on Friday, May 30. Specifically, Botany Paper I (for both new and old courses, as well as failed students), originally set for May 28 from 9am to 11am, will now take place on May 30 at the same time. Additionally, English (Normal) Paper I and English Advanced Paper I (for failed students), initially scheduled from 2pm to 5pm, will now be held from 3pm to 6pm on the same day.
The board has clarified that there will be no changes to the designated examination centres.
Youm-e-Takbeer marks the anniversary of Pakistan’s historic nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998, at the Ras Koh hills in Chaghai, Balochistan, making Pakistan the seventh nuclear-armed country globally and the first in the Islamic world. The tests were carried out in response to India’s nuclear test in 1974, solidifying Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining strategic balance and safeguarding national sovereignty.
