Mumbai: Singer Darshan Raval has returned to the monsoon music tradition that has become closely associated with his career with his latest single, “Barsaat Lagdi Ae.” Unlike the heartbreak-heavy songs many listeners expected from him, the new track takes a brighter, playful and romantic approach to the rainy season.
Released in August 2026, the song features Darshan Raval and Simran Choudhary, with lyrics by Youngveer and music production by Mir Desai. The track was released through Warner Music India and is available across major streaming platforms.
A Different Side of Monsoon Romance
Darshan Raval has spent years creating music associated with romance, heartbreak and nostalgia. His monsoon releases, in particular, have developed a strong connection with his listeners.
However, “Barsaat Lagdi Ae” deliberately moves away from the expectation of another sad romantic song. Raval described it as a groovy track built around the simple and happy moments associated with rain.
The singer revealed that he had released monsoon songs for around 10 consecutive years before taking an unplanned two-year break. The idea for this year’s song emerged naturally when a new melody came together in the studio.
Rain Becomes Part of the Story
The music video takes the idea of rain beyond simply using it as a visual backdrop.
Directed by Yuvrajaago, the video follows two people whose paths repeatedly almost cross while the rain continues around them. Eventually, the weather becomes part of the force that brings them together. Darshan Raval and Aditi Sharma feature in the video.
Interestingly, the concept itself was inspired by an actual rainy moment during discussions about the video. Director Yuvrajaago had been exploring different ways to portray monsoon romance when rain began leaking through the ceiling, leading to the idea of making the rain almost behave like a character that pushes the two people toward each other.
Darshan Raval and the ‘Blue Family’
One of the most personal elements of the new release is its connection with Raval’s long-standing fan community, known as the Blue Family.
The singer said the community has been with him since 2014 and that many of his fans have effectively grown up alongside him. Fans who once followed him while they were in school or college are now working, running businesses or preparing for important examinations.
Raval has also included a special detail in the music video specifically for his Blue Family, encouraging fans to discover the hidden reference themselves.
He Still Chooses Music by Emotion
Despite having more than a decade of experience in the industry, Raval says he does not choose songs simply because they belong to a particular genre, language or film.
He explained that he has rejected major opportunities when he did not connect with the music. For him, the most important question is whether a song genuinely affects him enough to put his own emotions into it.
That approach has allowed him to move between independent music, Bollywood, Gujarati music and South Indian film projects while maintaining a strong identity as a romantic singer.

Raval also addressed how his marriage has influenced his approach to love songs. Rather than suggesting that marriage would change his music completely, he said his songs are shaped by what he experiences, observes and feels about life and the people around him.
He also hinted that more announcements are coming soon, including something exciting connected with concerts.
