Karachi, October 22, 2026: The College Education Department of the Government of Sindh has directed principals of all government colleges across the province to publish at least one college magazine every year to promote students’ academic, literary, and creative abilities.
According to a circular issued by the department on October 22, 2026, college magazines will provide students and teachers with a platform to publish their ideas, articles, poetry, short stories, research writings, reviews, artwork, and photographs. Contributions in Sindhi, Urdu, and English will be encouraged, while students from all classes and departments will be given equal opportunities to submit their creative work.
The initiative aims to strengthen students’ communication, research, editing, and teamwork skills. It is also intended to promote academic and literary activities within colleges and preserve the educational history and institutional traditions of these establishments.
The circular states that every college magazine must include a brief history of the institution, official contact information, profiles of distinguished alumni, and details of former principals, including their names, designations, grades, subjects, and periods of service.
The publications will also feature updated lists of teaching and non-teaching staff, academic programmes, student enrolment figures, graduate records, examination results, notable achievements, institutional awards, available facilities, and extracurricular activities.
College principals have been instructed to establish editorial committees comprising teachers and student representatives. These committees will oversee content preparation, editing, and accuracy to ensure the quality and reliability of the published material.
According to the circular, college magazines may be published in both print and digital formats. Printed copies must be preserved in college records and libraries, placed in public libraries in the relevant cities, and sent to the concerned Directorate of Colleges.
Digital editions will also be uploaded to official college websites and social media pages wherever these facilities are available, allowing students, teachers, alumni, and the wider public to access the publications.
The circular, issued by Secretary College Education Nadeem-ur-Rehman Memon, directs all relevant officials and college principals to ensure strict compliance with the instructions.
The initiative is expected to strengthen literary and academic activities in government colleges, provide students with opportunities to showcase their creativity, and preserve the educational heritage and institutional history of colleges across Sindh.
