Lahore police have been directed to take strict action against boys unnecessarily gathering outside girls’ colleges and universities as part of efforts to improve security and protect female students.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran issued the instructions during an anti-crime meeting in the Model Town Division. He directed police officers to strengthen security arrangements around educational institutions and prevent unnecessary gatherings that could create concerns for female students.
The directive comes amid broader efforts to improve the protection of women and children and strengthen law and order in the city. Police officers have also been instructed to prioritise the resolution of registered cases involving women and children.
During the meeting, the DIG ordered increased police patrolling and more effective measures to control street crime and theft. He also directed officers to take immediate action against proclaimed offenders and habitual criminals.
In addition, police were instructed to conduct search-and-sweep operations around private hotels, major stadiums and important routes. Security arrangements for upcoming cricket matches were also discussed, with officials directed to complete logistical preparations and establish strict security cordons around team hotels, stadiums and designated routes.
The measures are aimed at improving public safety, strengthening law enforcement and providing a more secure environment for female students travelling to and from their educational institutions.
