Pakistan is planning to establish around 3,000 public electric vehicle charging facilities across the country by 2030 as part of its efforts to promote clean transport and reduce dependence on imported fuel.
The plan was outlined in a written reply presented to the National Assembly on October 22. Under the New Energy Vehicle Policy 2025–30, the government also plans to install 40 fast-charging stations along motorways and selected sections of the N-5 National Highway.
To encourage electric mobility, proposed subsidies include 80,000 rupees for electric motorcycles and 400,000 rupees for electric three-wheelers.
The government hopes that a wider charging network and financial incentives will make electric vehicles more accessible, encourage local manufacturing, and reduce fuel-import costs.
However, the success of the plan will depend on affordable vehicles, reliable electricity, and the timely development of charging infrastructure nationwide.
