The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has decided to launch a large-scale drain cleaning operation across Karachi ahead of the monsoon season to minimize the risk of urban flooding and rain-related problems.
According to KMC officials, the campaign will focus on cleaning major drains, removing garbage and debris, and improving the city’s drainage system to ensure smooth water flow during heavy rainfall.
Authorities said special teams and heavy machinery will be deployed in different areas of the city, while coordination with relevant civic agencies will also be strengthened to deal with potential emergency situations during the monsoon.
Officials urged citizens to cooperate with sanitation workers and avoid throwing waste into drains, warning that blocked drainage lines could worsen flooding during the rainy season.
