KARACHI: Sindh has not been excluded from the Prime Minister’s Youth Chromebook Scheme, but students in the province will have to wait for registration to open.
The clarification comes after students raised concerns that Sindh was missing from the online application form for the nationwide initiative.
According to the official scheme website, registration for Sindh students will begin after all examination boards in the province announce their Class 9 annual examination results for 2026.
The federal government has launched the scheme to distribute 500,000 Chromebooks among talented students across Pakistan over two years. The initiative aims to improve access to digital education, online learning resources and electronic libraries.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized that the distribution will be based on merit and students’ academic performance. The initiative also includes bags and MiFi devices to support internet access.
Under the announced eligibility criteria, top-performing Grade 9 students from government and public schools in Sindh will be considered based on their 2026 annual examination results.
Students are advised to wait for the official registration announcement and keep their academic documents ready. The scheme is intended to provide students across Pakistan with better access to modern educational technology.
