ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has expanded its nationwide cybercrime awareness campaign, taking its efforts beyond educational institutions and public gatherings to reach citizens at the community level.
The initiative aims to educate people about growing cyber threats, online financial fraud, cyber harassment, identity theft and the misuse of social media, while encouraging safer internet practices.
The campaign has gained momentum across Pakistan, with awareness activities organised in Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gilgit, Sahiwal, Abbottabad and Karachi.
Under the initiative, NCCIA officials are engaging different sections of society, including students, teachers, journalists and members of the general public, to improve understanding of cybercrime and preventive measures.
Citizens are being advised to avoid suspicious links, protect personal information, use strong passwords, enable two-factor authentication and remain cautious of fraudulent calls, messages and online investment offers.
The agency’s awareness drive also focuses on educating people about online harassment, fake social media accounts, financial scams and other emerging digital threats.
The campaign is being conducted under the supervision of NCCIA Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, following the directions of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
Officials have emphasised that public awareness is essential to reducing cybercrime and creating a safer digital environment across the country.
The NCCIA has urged citizens to report cybercrime incidents through its official helpline 1799 or approach their nearest NCCIA circle for assistance.
The expansion of the awareness campaign reflects the agency’s efforts to make cyber safety a community-wide responsibility and promote responsible use of digital platforms.
