Binance Sees Withdrawals Stabilising After $6.3 Billion Crypto Heist
Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, says customer withdrawals are beginning to stabilise after the platform resumed services following a massive $6.3 billion cyberattack.
According to Reuters, customers withdrew a net $3.64 billion after withdrawals reopened, representing around 2.1 percent of Binance’s total assets.
The exchange says withdrawal pressure has eased, while deposits have remained substantial.
Binance also says it has replaced approximately 95 percent of the stolen assets using company funds and other financial reserves. The remaining assets are reportedly harder-to-source cryptocurrencies.
The FBI has attributed the attack to North Korea’s TraderTraitor hacking group.
The incident has raised fresh questions about cryptocurrency security and investor confidence in major exchanges.
