Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has announced his retirement from international football, bringing an end to his 23-year career with Portugal.
The 41-year-old confirmed his decision on Thursday, November 5, saying it was time to hand over Portugal’s famous number seven shirt to the next generation.
Ronaldo leaves behind an extraordinary international record, with 234 appearances and 146 goals, making him the most-capped player and highest goalscorer in men’s international football.
He also captained Portugal to their historic Euro 2016 victory and helped the team win the UEFA Nations League in 2019 and 2025.
Although his international journey has ended, Ronaldo is expected to continue playing for his Saudi club, Al-Nassr.
His retirement marks the end of one of the most remarkable eras in international football.
