Renowned singer-actor Farhan Saeed took to Instagram to celebrate Sybil Sohail’s landmark achievement, as she became the first Pakistani woman to clinch gold at the Asian Weightlifting Masters Championship held in Doha, Qatar.
In a heartfelt Instagram Story, Saeed tagged the weightlifting champion and wrote, “Proud moment. Congratulations 🇵🇰,” expressing his admiration for her historic win.
Sohail, 31, made her international weightlifting debut in the 59kg category, lifting a total of 95kg — 40kg in snatch and 55kg in clean and jerk — to top the podium. Previously a decorated powerlifter with multiple Commonwealth and Asian titles, her transition to weightlifting marks a new chapter in her sports career.
Farhan Saeed, known for promoting national pride, had earlier also lauded javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem following his gold medal victory at the Asian Athletics Championship.
Sohail’s triumph is being hailed as a major milestone for Pakistani women in strength sports, with the athlete affirming her goal: “I aim to make my country and family proud. We’ve sacrificed a lot, and I want to ensure it all pays off.”
