US Vetoes UN Resolution for Immediate Gaza Ceasefire

United States has vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution that called for an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, along with full access for humanitarian aid.

The resolution received support from 14 out of 15 members of the Security Council. However, the US stood alone in opposing it, using its veto power to block the measure.

According to US officials, the resolution could negatively affect ongoing diplomatic efforts and was seen as unbalanced in addressing the situation between Israel and Hamas.

The resolution aimed to halt the ongoing conflict in Gaza and ensure humanitarian aid reaches civilians in need. The US stance has drawn criticism from several countries and human rights organizations who argue that a ceasefire is urgently needed to prevent further civilian suffering.
