The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, has decided to increase the province’s education budget by 13% for the next fiscal year to help improve schools and learning levels.

Gandapur told the first group of students at Gajju Khan Medical College that without solid educational institutions, it would be tough to improve the quality of education.

With more funds, new schools will be built, laboratories and examination halls will be provided and schools will be set up in regions where they are needed the most. Besides, the number of scholarships for students has been doubled and the scholarship endowment fund has grown from Rs1.2 billion to Rs2.4 billion.

Gandapur also pointed out that the government wants to improve teacher training and hire teachers based on merit to solve the problems of many students leaving school and too few qualified educators.

The Chief Minister stated again that the province is committed to quality education and the budget increase will help make society better informed.

The KP government is paying special attention to education because there are many children in the province who do not attend school, with more than 4.7 million out of school.

The new budget focuses on these problems and aims to enhance education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
