TikTok Beauty Tips May Harm Skin, Experts Warn

A recent study has found that viral beauty tips on TikTok may be harmful to young people’s skin. Experts have warned that many teenage girls are using dangerous skincare products daily.

These include strong chemicals like glycolic acid and retinoids, which can cause skin irritation, swelling, and allergies.

The research also revealed that only 26% of beauty routines shown on TikTok include sunscreen. This lack of protection increases the risk of skin cancer.

Some popular TikTok beauty hacks, such as using lemon, baking soda, or DIY microneedling, can damage the skin’s natural barrier.

Experts are urging parents to guide their children to speak to a dermatologist before trying beauty advice seen on social media.
