DRAP’s Central Drugs Laboratory Karachi has successfully achieved WHO prequalification, which is an important milestone in Pakistan’s healthcare system.

‎According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, the prequalification has granted internationally recognized status to the standards of drug testing in the country.

‎With this certification, DRAP’s testing services meet the strict standards set by the World Health Organization. Medicines tested in this laboratory are safe, effective, and of high quality.

‎Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal congratulated DRAP and the technical team of CDL Karachi on this significant achievement. He said that this success represents a fundamental milestone in government health reforms, adding that they are committed to building a comprehensive healthcare system that goes beyond treatment, where disease prevention and quality are given top priority.

‎He stated that analyzing medicines in national laboratories according to international standards is the first line of defense for protecting citizens’ lives. This achievement will also promote global trust in “Made in Pakistan” medicines. Now the domestic pharmaceutical industry will have new opportunities to compete in international markets.

‎The Health Minister said that the confidence of healthcare professionals and patients will be further strengthened. The Ministry of Health is committed to modernizing the regulatory system, and practical measures are ongoing to ensure the prevention of substandard and counterfeit medicines.
