The Punjab government tabled a zero tax budget in fiscal year 2025 2026 with much emphasis being put on education as it has put Rs 148 billion on the education. It is a move to enhance literacy levels, update infrastructure of schools and also offer access to better quality education elsewhere in the province.

The Finance Minister underscored that the budget does not introduce any new tax but it focuses on human development especially in the area of education. Important grants consist of money on free textbooks, school upgradation, teacher training, and scholarships to deserving students.

The officials put it that the increment in the funding is in line with the long term aspect of population being achieved through an educated and skilled population, which is relevant in terms of socioeconomic development through Punjab. The learning fraternity has hailed the pronouncement as a positive development towards the transformation of education.
