ISLAMABAD – June 24, 2025: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the suspension of all flights to key Gulf destinations, citing an “escalating military situation” in the region.

In an official statement on Monday, the national flag carrier confirmed that services to Doha (Qatar), Dubai (UAE), Kuwait, and Bahrain have been temporarily halted. The decision follows rising regional tensions after Iran reportedly launched a missile strike targeting a U.S. military base in Qatar, prompting several Gulf states to close parts of their airspace.

“Flights will resume only once the security situation improves,” said a PIA spokesperson. Passengers affected by the cancellations have been advised to contact PIA’s customer service for rebooking or further assistance.

The airspace closures have also impacted other major airlines, including Qatar Airways, Air India, British Airways, and Singapore Airlines, many of which are rerouting flights to avoid conflict zones.

This development underscores growing concerns over regional instability and its ripple effect on global aviation. No timeline has yet been provided for the resumption of normal flight operations.
