Experts Advise Diabetics to Limit Watermelon Intake

Health experts say watermelon can help with weight loss because it is made up of about 92% water, has very few calories, and contains natural fibre that helps with digestion.

However, they warn that watermelon has a high glycaemic index, which means it can quickly raise blood sugar and insulin levels.

According to SAMAA News’ report, people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes should eat only a small portion.

Doctors recommend eating watermelon after a protein-rich meal. They suggest starting with a piece of cheese, then having the main meal, and eating watermelon at the end.

This order may help control blood sugar spikes after meals.
