Australian actor Julian McMahon, known globally for his roles in Nip/Tuck, Charmed, and Fantastic Four, passed away on July 2 in Clearwater, Florida, after a long battle with cancer. He was 56.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed by his wife, Kelly McMahon, two days later. In an emotional statement, she said, “With a broken heart, I want to share that my beloved husband Julian passed away this week after courageously fighting cancer. He truly loved life, his family, his friends, his work, and the people who supported him. He always hoped to bring joy into the lives of others.”

Son of former Australian Prime Minister Sir William McMahon, Julian kept most details of his illness private. While no specifics about the type of cancer were made public, he had previously spoken openly about other health challenges, including being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Despite everything, he remained active and committed to his craft.

Julian began his acting journey with the Australian soap Home and Away, before making his mark in American television. He rose to fame with roles in Profiler, Runaway, and FBI: Most Wanted, but it was his portrayal of Cole Turner in Charmed that cemented his place as a fan favorite. On the big screen, he became widely recognized for playing the villainous Doctor Doom in Marvel’s Fantastic Four (2005) and its sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). His film credits also include Red, Paranoia, Faces in the Crowd, Swinging Safari, Monster Party, The Surfer, and The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat.

As tributes poured in from fans and colleagues, Warner Bros. Television posted a heartfelt message on their official page, expressing deep sorrow over the actor’s passing. “We are saddened by the loss of Julian McMahon. Our thoughts are with his family, his loved ones, and all those who admired his work.”

In her closing words, Kelly said, “We are grateful for the memories we built together. Julian brought so many smiles into the world — and we hope those who loved him will continue to find joy in life, just as he always tried to do.”

Julian McMahon is survived by his wife and two children. His death marks the end of a celebrated career and a life that touched countless hearts around the world.
