The Clifton Cantonment Board (CBC) has initiated a comprehensive survey of dilapidated and unsafe buildings. According to a statement issued by the CBC, 125 buildings have been identified in the first phase as dangerous and potentially hazardous to public safety.

Breakdown of Identified Buildings:

Delhi Colony: 51 buildings

Madniabad: 16 buildings

Lower Gizri: 7 buildings

Chaudhry Khaliq-uz-Zaman Colony: 5 buildings

Punjab Colony: 14 buildings

Pak Jamhuria Colony: 27 building

Bakhshan Village: 5 buildings

These buildings have significantly deteriorated and, according to the CBC statement, pose a serious risk to lives and property during the monsoon season.

The CBC has instructed the owners and tenants of these buildings to vacate or demolish the structures immediately. Failure to comply will result in legal action under the Cantonment Act of 1924. The board has also clarified that it will not be held responsible for any loss of life or property caused by these buildings and no compensation claims will be entertained.

Affected residents are required to have their buildings inspected by engineers or firms registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council and submit the inspection report without delay.

The CBC added that the survey is still ongoing, and more dangerous buildings may be identified in the coming days.
