The Specialized Institution Act has been enforced at two major cardiology hospitals in Punjab, under which doctors and staff will no longer be considered government employees.

‎The Jinnah Institute of Cardiology in Lahore and the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha have been brought under the Medical Institution Act. As a result, the Punjab Civil Servants Act will no longer apply to these hospitals.

‎According to the new regulations, recruitment and service tenure decisions for hospital employees will now be made by an independent board.

‎Under the Specialized Medical Institution Act, the board will have extensive powers in managing the hospitals. This law was previously implemented under the name of MTI (Medical Teaching Institutions) by the former government.
