Mehwish Hayat Stands Up for Sahir Lodhi: “Let’s Normalize Humanity”

Karachi Recently, the “Sahir Lodhi trend” has taken social media by storm, with users creating TikTok videos mimicking the actor and TV host. Among them was actor and director Yasir Nawaz, whose clip went viral quickly. While many found the videos entertaining, some questioned the trend’s tone.

In response, renowned actress Mehwish Hayat raised her voice in support of Sahir Lodhi and criticized the culture of mocking celebrities online.

“It’s really unfair how some people make fun of him, often forgetting he is a human being with feelings, just like the rest of us,” Mehwish wrote on social media.

She praised Sahir Lodhi’s consistent hard work and perseverance in the industry:

“He is someone who has worked consistently, shown passion, and made a name in an industry that is not easy to survive in.“

Mehwish added that despite differences, basic respect should never go out of fashion:

“You don’t have to agree with someone’s style or choices, but respect is a must.“

She gave a positive message to the audience:

“Let’s normalize kindness, especially toward those who keep showing up despite what the world throws at them.“

Sahir Lodhi has faced criticism since the start of his career, including being trolled for imitating Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, his flamboyant hosting style, and his poorly received movie Raasta.

Yet, Sahir has always responded gracefully:

“When you enter this profession, you become public property. If you cannot take humor or taunts, you cannot work here,” he once said.

Regarding hate comments, he added:

“Yes, I get hate and curse words, but if it makes people happy or they think I’m a certain way, what can I say? Everyone has the right to express themselves.“

Mehwish’s support has shifted the conversation, reminding us all that behind every viral trend is a human being with feelings.
