ISLAMABAD / LAHORE: Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, has petitioned the Islamabad High Court, accusing Adiala Jail authorities of obstructing her brother’s access to legal assistance. Filed under Article 199, the plea names the jail superintendent and deputy superintendent as respondents, alleging they failed to return power of attorney documents submitted 10 days ago.
These documents are critical for filing appeals in the Supreme Court against bail rejections. Any delay, the petition warns, could bar Mr. Khan from challenging adverse orders. It termed the jail’s conduct “arbitrary and unconstitutional,” violating Articles 4, 9, and 10A.
Separately, a Lahore magistrate issued non-bailable arrest warrants for PTI Senator Shibli Faraz and summoned Imran Khan in a case linked to the March 2023 clash at Zaman Park. The FIR accuses Mr. Khan, Mr. Faraz, and others of threatening Islamabad Police during a failed arrest attempt.
Meanwhile, an ATC extended PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s interim bail in seven May 9 violence cases—including attacks on Corps Commander House and Askari Tower—until September 19.
