LAHORE — A man allegedly shaved his wife’s head and eyebrows in a brutal act of domestic violence, leaving the woman critically injured and traumatized. The incident, which took place in the Shadbagh area, has ignited widespread condemnation after graphic images of the victim surfaced on social media.

Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the suspect, identified as Muhammad Jamil, following a complaint from the victim’s family. According to the police report, the suspect attacked his wife after a heated argument over domestic matters. He reportedly restrained her before using a razor to shave her head and eyebrows, then fled the scene.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors treated her for scalp injuries and severe psychological distress. She remains under observation, though her physical condition is reported as stable.

“The suspect committed a heinous act of torture,” said the investigating officer. “We are conducting raids to ensure his immediate arrest.”

Domestic violence cases in Pakistan often go unreported due to social stigma, but this specific incident has drawn sharp criticism from women’s rights activists. They argue that such acts are fueled by a culture of impunity that emboldens abusers.

Despite the introduction of laws aimed at curbing domestic abuse, implementation remains inconsistent. Legal experts point out that while the victim’s family has sought police intervention, the path to justice in such cases is rarely straightforward.

Jamil remains at large. Police teams are tracking his mobile phone location, but as of Tuesday morning, he has successfully evaded capture.

For the victim, the scars go beyond the physical. She is currently staying with relatives, where she continues to provide statements to investigators, hoping the law will move faster than the man who attacked her.
