Monsoon Tragedies Claim 281 Lives Across Pakistan: NDMA Report

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released its latest report detailing the human and infrastructural losses caused by monsoon-related incidents across the country this year.

According to the NDMA, two more fatalities were reported in the past 24 hours both from Sindh bringing the total death toll to 281, while 676 individuals have been injured so far due to rain-related accidents.

The provincial breakdown of fatalities and injuries is as follows:

Punjab: 151 deaths, 535 injuries

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 64 deaths, 80 injuries

Sindh: 27 deaths, 40 injuries

Balochistan: 20 deaths, 4 injuries

Gilgit-Baltistan: 9 deaths, 4 injuries

Azad Kashmir: 2 deaths, 10 injuries

Islamabad: 8 deaths, 3 injuries

Demographically, the casualties include 97 men, 50 women, and 134 children, while injuries were reported among 260 men, 193 women, and 223 children.

The report further revealed that 1,569 houses have sustained damage as a result of heavy rains and associated hazards.

The NDMA continues to monitor the situation closely and urges the public to take precautionary measures during the ongoing monsoon season.
