Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Balochistan, Sindh

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts scattered rain or rain‑wind/thundershowers today across Islamabad, Punjab, KP, and northeastern Balochistan, with isolated heavier downpours possible in parts of KP and the Pothohar region .

In Sindh, showers are expected this evening or overnight in select districts including Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpur Khas, and Sanghar .

Authorities warn of localised rain, particularly in low‑lying or flash‑flood prone areas—urban flooding remains a risk despite generally hot and humid conditions in southern parts of the province .

Northern Pakistan Alert: Skardu & Gilgit‑Baltistan at Risk of Glacial Lake-Related Flooding

The PMD has issued a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) alert today for Skardu, Gilgit‑Baltistan and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, warning that melting glaciers combined with heavy monsoon rains could trigger flash floods and landslides in high‑altitude valleys such as Chitral, Kumrat, Dir, Hunza, Shigar, and Babusar .

Recent cloudbursts and meltwater have already stranded many tourists, prompting evacuations. Authorities report over 200 stranded visitors have been rescued from GB’s Diamer and Skardu districts, while search efforts are underway for missing persons in affected mountainous areas . Rainfall this July is nearly 82% higher than the same period last year, compounding flood risk in the north .
