The Drug Control Punjab has declared various medicines, including a cough syrup, as substandard and has ordered an immediate stop to their sale and their return.
In an issued alert, the department stated that if any dealer, wholesaler or retailer has the concerned products, they must return them immediately.
The alert also includes the names and details of the defective medicines and the cough syrup.
Among them, Ericov cough syrup has been declared substandard due to excessive levels of diethylene glycol, and its recall has been ordered.
Similarly, Loratadine Tablet 10 mg, Safe Med 100 ml and Knaderine Cream have also been ordered to be returned immediately.
