Health experts have warned that two new viruses could pose a major public health risk in the United States.
Animal borne Influenza D virus and a coronavirus found in dogs have so far remained largely unnoticed by experts, about which researchers have expressed concern in a new report.
Professor Dr. John Lednicky of the University of Florida said that available research data indicate that both viruses could cause respiratory diseases in humans, but so far no effective measures have been taken for their prevention or control.
If these viruses develop the ability to spread easily from human to human, they could turn into epidemics or even global pandemics, as most people would not have immunity against them.
