A Delhi court has formally indicted Anmol, known by the alias “Pinky,” in connection with a fatal stabbing that rocked the city last year. The move marks a critical shift in a case that had stalled for months due to conflicting witness accounts and jurisdictional disputes between local police and specialized crime units.

The indictment, delivered by Additional Sessions Judge Sanjay Sharma, outlines charges of murder and criminal conspiracy. Prosecutors allege Pinky orchestrated the attack following a long-standing dispute over local territory, dismissing defense claims that the accused was miles away at the time of the incident.

For the victim’s family, the legal proceedings have been a grueling exercise in patience. They’ve spent the last 14 months navigating a backlog of court dates and sudden transfers of investigating officers. While the indictment brings the case closer to trial, the family remains wary of potential delays.

“We’ve heard promises of justice for over a year,” said the victim’s brother, who attended Tuesday’s hearing. “Seeing the charges framed is a start, but the real test is whether the evidence holds up against the high-profile legal team they’ve hired.”

Evidence presented by the prosecution relies heavily on CCTV footage recovered from a nearby petrol pump, which reportedly shows Pinky fleeing the scene on a motorcycle. Defense attorney Vikram Singh challenged the authenticity of the digital logs, arguing that the timestamps were tampered with during the initial evidence collection phase.

The judge rejected the defense’s motion to dismiss, noting that the forensic report from the Cyber Cell confirmed the video’s integrity. The court has scheduled the cross-examination of the lead forensic investigator for next month.

The case has drawn attention not just for its brutality, but for the light it sheds on the slow-moving nature of the city’s criminal justice system. With the indictment now official, the prosecution must present its full witness list by the end of the week.

If convicted, Pinky faces a minimum of life imprisonment. The next hearing is set for November 12, where the court is expected to finalize the trial schedule.
