Bollywood star Anushka Sharma is all set to make her long-awaited return to the screen after nearly seven years, marking her comeback with the much-anticipated sports biopic Chakda Xpress, which will premiere on Netflix instead of theatres.
According to industry insiders, the film—based on the inspiring life of Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami—has completed production but faced multiple delays during post-production due to creative differences between Netflix and the production house. Disagreements reportedly centered around the film’s ending, which led to its release being postponed from its initial 2024 schedule.
However, sources confirm that the issues have now been resolved, and the platform is preparing to announce a new release date soon.
In Chakda Xpress, Sharma steps into the role of Jhulan Goswami, one of India’s most celebrated women cricketers who represented the national team from 2002 to 2022. The film takes its title from Goswami’s hometown, Chakda, a small town in West Bengal, symbolizing her journey from humble beginnings to international fame.
The project marks Anushka Sharma’s first on-screen appearance since her 2018 film Zero, and fans are eagerly awaiting her powerful portrayal in this inspirational sports drama.
