Cupertino, California (Sept 9, 2025): Apple is set to unveil a slimmer “iPhone Air” at its highly anticipated September 9 event, with analysts expecting the new device to serve as a bridge to foldable iPhones planned for next year.
The new iPhone Air will sit between the standard iPhone 17 models and the premium Pro line, making it the centerpiece of this year’s product announcements. Smaller updates are also expected for Apple Watch and other key products.
Industry experts say Apple is likely to hold base-model prices steady but may raise costs for higher-storage variants. The move comes as the company absorbs more than $1 billion in U.S. tariff expenses this quarter.
While the spotlight will be on hardware, Apple’s artificial intelligence strategy remains in focus. A major revamp of Siri has been postponed until 2026, with Apple relying on its partnership with OpenAI in the interim.
The company faces mounting pressure from rivals Samsung and Google, both of which are pushing ahead in foldable smartphones and AI integration. Analysts believe the iPhone Air could lay the groundwork for Apple’s first foldable iPhone, expected as early as next year.
